Pyroptosis in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a common rheumatic disease that incurs significant morbidity. While RA is extensively studied, the exact causes of this condition remain incompletely understood.

We are investigating pyroptotic death of myeloid cells as a driver of anti-self immune responses in RA. This work links the activation of PAD enzymes to cell-intrinsic innate signaling.

This project is the focus of Ramona's thesis.
